September 22, 2001: Sept. 22 Vigil by Phil Kline (48) is performed for the first time, in New York. Kline passes out 40 cassettes of his music to the performers in Union Square, who insert them in boomboxes. They begin the cassettes simultaneously and walk together to Washington Square.
